Philippe Jaccotet wrote somewhere : « …Why would secrets be more precious than evidence? ». Astrid doesn’t answer the question. She dissolves it by revealing the secrets of the evidence. The ones hidden yet in full sight on the chimney’s mantelpiece. For Astrid plays with paintbrushes like Papageno with bird calls. One may argue someday that she painted birds, monkeys, trees or clouds. They’d be wrong. She painted, that’s it. Intrigued, birds, monkeys, trees and clouds came to watch over her shoulder to see what she was doing. As she didn’t seem to notice them, they ended up resting on the paper. It felt nice, they stayed there.
