Little Sali and Vreni grow up in the Swiss countryside, where their farmer fathers work together. When a disagreement arises between the two men that turns into extreme animosity, the children are prevented from seeing each other. Meeting as young adults some years later, Sali and Vreni must confront the hostilities between their families, as well as the tense atmosphere of the village, if they are to love each other.
