Poloni's film narrates of Thessaloniki and reveals unknown facets of Greece. It takes a close look at the city today and tells of ist unparalleled Jewish past, meeting most different people – Jewish survivors, Russian immigrants, gypsies, Greek-Macedonian nationalists – and thereby revealing the complex reality of a city at the outskirts of Europe, a display of historical layers and stories. The film also tells of the power and burden of the past, of personal and cultural loss and of the individual and collective search for identity.
