December 31, 1999, 11:59 PM. The world is holding its breath. In less than one minute millions of computers all over the world could conceivably crash, thereby triggering a series of catastrophes. Everyone is talking about a computer apocalypse. But the catastrophe never occurred. How much could be foreseen at that time? Were the fears justified? And how much did it cost? The film takes us on a journey from Switzerland to England, France and the USA, documenting how the Y2K problem came to be one of the most prominent media phenomena at the end of the 20th century.
