Dans le palais mental d'Adalbert, nous suivons ses fantasmes jusqu'au bout. En tant que narrateur non fiable, il a un contrôle total sur la façon dont il est perçu. Pour lui, être humain est trop étroit, trop restrictif. En adoptant la vie d'un autre être, il fait l'expérience tant attendue et exaltante d'un réarrangement complet de toutes ses molécules. Basé sur la nouvelle: «Le chat noir» d'Edgar Allan Poe, 1843.
