Anton von Bredow

Director, Screenwriter

Anton von Bredow was born in Hamburg in 1996. After studying graphic design, he initially worked as a stage design intern, later as an assistant at the Thalia Theatre, the Burgtheater Vienna, Kampnagel, La Scala Milan and the Salzburg Festival.
He then studied stage design with Raimund Bauer at the HFBK Hamburg, graduating with honours, and as an ASA scholarship holder he studied film with Clément Cogitore and visual arts with Alvaro Urbano and Petrit Halilaj at the École des Beaux Arts Paris.
In the last few years he has also worked increasingly as a production designer. The film BEFORE I FORGET, directed by Mariam Mekiwi, was invited to the Berlinale 2018 and won the Berenberg Prize. ARCHITECTURE OF HAPPINESS (2024), co-directed with Michele Cirigliano, is Bredow's first film as a director.
